Description

This set of original handmade linocut ornaments features a quirky set of sushi and maki rolls. Each ornament was letterpress printed by hand from hand-carved linoleum blocks on an antique Vandercook cylinder press, then hand-painted with watercolor. The prints are mounted to acid-free gray board and secured with a cream-colored satin ribbon. These heirloom-quality ornaments are perfect for making your holiday tree a treat tasty enough to eat—or for adding a humourous year-round accent to your home.

This edition is limited to 200 sets—once they sell out, they will not be reprinted, so grab yours before they disappear forever! This is one of two 2012 sets, part of an ongoing series. The ornaments are not numbered, but each is hand-lettered with the name of each type of sushi and the year.

• Sake (salmon nigiri)
• Maguro (tuna nigiri)
• Hosomaki (tuna & cucumber rolls)
• Uramaki (“inside-out” roll)
• Tamago (sweet egg omelet)

These ornaments are packaged in a clear poly sleeve and will ship in a USPS Priority Mail flat-rate box. WA state residents are subject to sales tax.

Ornament size

Each ornament is approximately 2 x 3 inches (5.1 x 7.6 cm).

Printing method

Original letterpress-printed ornaments. Hand-printed on a Vandercook press, and then individually hand-painted with watercolor.

Paper type

Images are printed on Rives Lightweight printmaking paper, soft white, 100% acid free. Then the prints are mounted to a heavy, acid-free, deep grey board. These ornaments are amazingly sturdy and made to the highest standards of quality; still, they are delicate, heirloom items. They're not designed to be toys; please handle with care.

Edition size

200 ornament sets. The ornaments are not numbered, but each is hand-lettered with the name of each type of sushi and the year. This letterpress edition will never be reprinted; once the ornament sets sell out, they're gone for good.

Hand-painted

Each ornament is individually hand-painted with watercolor. Because of this, no two ornaments in the edition are precisely alike. Please allow for slight differences and color variations from what is pictured here.

Display info

Ornaments are affixed with a satin ribbon for hanging on a tree or hook. These items are made from the best archival paper, inks and watercolor pigments available. Any piece of artwork can fade if displayed improperly, however; for best results, display your ornaments away from direct sunlight; and when not displayed, store in a dark, cool, dry place.
