Description
The south face of Mount Rainier towers over the banks of the Nisqually River, inside Mount Rainier National Park. The Nisqually River begins as a mountain glacier above Paradise, the most frequently-visited part of the park. The meltwater from the glacier tumbles downhill and before long grows into a swift stream full of wild rapids. As it continues downward, it widens, until it is the mighty river that empties into Puget Sound, feeding forests, prairies, wetlands and farm fields along the way.
This 9 x 12 print is a reproduction of the original letterpress piece from “Local Conditions,” a series depicting Washington’s Mt. Rainier from a variety of different vantage points. The original artwork was letterpress printed by hand on an antique Vandercook No. 4 press and then hand-painted with watercolor.
Paper size is 12 x 9.
