Description
This print highlights the distinctive curved cove of Owen Beach on Puget Sound, located in Point Defiance Park in Tacoma, Washington. Mount Rainier glows in the late afternoon light, while a labrador retriever plunges into the water, playing fetch in the shadow of the hillside.
This 9 x 12 print is a reproduction of the original letterpress piece from “Local Conditions,” a series depicting Washington’s Mt. Rainier from a variety of different vantage points. (You can read more about the project here.) There are 15 different designs in the series; you can find all available prints here.
The original artwork was letterpress printed by hand on an antique Vandercook No. 4 press and then hand-painted with watercolor.
Paper size is 12 x 9.
